Final Program of the WFFM Council Meeting and General Assembly
in Washington, D.C., June 2-5, 2016


REGISTRATION DESK at Dupont Circle Hotel

Thursday, June 2 from 2:00 – 6:00 p.m. 
Friday, June 3 from 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 noon.

Council attendees staying at the Embassy Row Hotel 2 blocks away must come to Dupont Circle Hotel. Please register and pick up your badge and final meeting information.


Thursday, June 2

2:00 – 4:30 p.m.  Meeting of WFFM Council Executive 
Committee in Conference Room A/B near Registration Desk.

6:30 – 8:30 p.m.  Welcome Reception for all conference 
attendees and Young Friends of Museums on 
9th Floor in The Heights Reception Room. (Business Attire)
For dinner plans: hotel has restaurant; serves small plates in Bar; many small restaurants in Dupont Circle area. 

 

Friday, June 3
9:00 a.m. - 12:00 noon ALL Delegates meet in Conference Room /A/B at Dupont Circle Hotel. 

9:30 a.m. Accompanying Persons/Companions leave promptly by bus with D.C. guide for National Gallery of Art. Tour museum with Senior Lecturer Eric Denker.. 

12:00 noon Delegates leave hotel promptly on bus for National Gallery and join group in Garden Court Cafe

12:30 p.m.  Joint buffet lunch in Garden Court Cafe (lst floor). Rear room reserved for WFFM.

1:30 – 2:00 p.m Companions depart on foot and walk through sculpture gardens to Hirshhorn Museum (contemporary art), Air and Space Museum and/or Museum of American Indian. Guests at liberty to stay in one museum or another.

1:45 p.m. Delegates tour NGA with staff lecturer 

3:15 p.m. Delegates depart with guide on foot to other 
museums on the mall (Hirshhorn and/or Air and Space 
Museum) for brief look or other museum of choice.

5:00 p.m. Bus picks up everyone on Mall side of National Gallery of Art to returns to hotel.

6:30 p.m. Bus departs Dupont Circle Hotel, stopping briefly at 6:40 p.m. at Embassy Row Hotel for guests and continues to Cocktail Buffet at home of 
John and Nancy Barnum, 
2029 Connecticut Ave. Apt. #73

(Cocktail attire)

Balance of evening on your own. Stroll down Connecticut Avenue to hotels (approximately 6 blocks). Young Friends invited.

 

Saturday, June 4

9:00 a.m. Bus departs hotel promptly with all Council participants. Embassy Row guests will be picked up at 9:10 a.m. Visit Viet Nam and Lincoln Memorials. General tour of historic areas around Mall including U.S. Capitol. 

11:30 a.m. Arrive at G St. Entrance of Smithsonian Museum of American Art . Lunch in Courtyard Cafe. All attendees go to Courtyard Cafe to pick up box lunch. Tables reserved for WFFM in courtyard.

12:45 Delegates will meet museum guide for Walk-Through Tour of Museum of American Art

1:30  Delegates will depart museum for Dupont Circle Hotel and meeting in Conference Room A/B.

1:00 p.m. Companions/Guests will tour Museum of American Art with museum guide.

2:30 Companions/Guests will board bus on G Street and go with guide to Smithsonian Museum of American History. Other museums nearby include Museum of Natural History and Holocaust Museum.

5:00 Bus departs on Mall side behind Museum of American History and returns to hotel.

6:45 All attendees walk to 
Sulgrave Club
1801 Massachusetts
 Avenue
one block east, for cocktails and dinner. Formal Concert of songs from American musicals at 7:30 p.m. (Cocktail attire).


Sunday, June 5

9:15 a.m.  All attendees walk to Cosmos Club two (2) blocks west from Dupont Circle (one block fronm Embassy Row Hotel to 2121 Massachusetts Avenue. (Business attire)

9:30 a.m. General Assembly in 2nd floor Meeting Room. 
Young Friends invited to meeting only.
(option to register for lunch and pay Eliana Zanini)

12:00 or 12:30 p.m.  Seated luncheon at Cosmos Club. (Please notify USFFM representatives if you cannot stay for luncheon)

END OF COUNCIL MEETING - Afternoon at leisure. 
Phillips Collection ( 20th century art), 1600 21st Street, is 1/2 block from Cosmos Club. Entrance fee required. 
(Reciprocal U.S. museum & some international museum
membershp cards may be accepted ).
